Learn choreography that explores the African diaspora and roots through movement to the tune of the latest Afrobeat jams. Hosted by noted choreographer, Debõrah Hughes, the session will fuse traditional and modern African dances from the continent with Hip-hop, R&B, House, Dancehall, and other styles. Attendees will learn basic foundational movements in addition to modern dance steps from around the African continent and the Diaspora. Learn some new moves and gain cultural knowledge, in addition to kicking off the AFROPUNK weekend in a high-energy environment.

Includes:

  • a choreographed dance taught by Debõrah Hughes

  • the basic movements of many dances from various cities in Africa
