A mere 15 minutes away from Chiang Mai’s airport, you’ll find an entirely different land, and one of the best resort properties in Thailand.

The Dhara Dhevi is hands-down one of the most unique properties you’ll step foot on. Nestled across 60 acres (so large, you'll be chauffeured around the property most of the time) of beautifully landscaped tropical grounds, the luxury resort’s design is inspired by the culture and times of the historic Lanna Kingdom, which influenced Thailand for in the early 14th century. From the moment you cross the gates, you feel like you’ve entered a time machine. What you’ll see when you arrive is grand and palatial architecture, traditional Lanna villas and rice fields, and an experience unrivaled by other properties. You’ll never want to leave.

While the property boasts multiple lodging options, we highly suggest booking one of the 2 story villas, complete with an upstairs bedroom lies adjacent to a large bathroom complete with whirlpool bathtub, indoor rain shower and an outdoor shower. In addition, there are two balconies and an outdoor massage area and an outdoor plunge pool.

If you want to stay on the property grounds (and honestly, who would blame you), there’s plenty of reason to.  The resort has daily arts and crafts programs, such as basket making, bamboo weaving, rice pounding, paper cutting and flower arranging in traditional Thai practices.  There’s also a Thai Cooking School and the Dhara Dhevi has its own shopping center situated by the main gate. which houses its famous bakery (be sure to try the green tea macaroons).

Of course, while it may feel like you’ve entered an entirely different land, the center of Chiang Mai is a quick Uber or shuttle ride away.  Close enough to be accessible, but far enough to enjoy the solitude and be “away from it all.”

At some point during your stay, you absolutely have to practice some self-care and visit the The Dheva Spa and Wellness Centre, a sprawling spa, where you can get a personalized wellness treatment.  Your appointed care specialist will sit with your during an initial consultation to identify the best possible healing experience, specifically catered to your body and any of your current concerns and health.  You may have heard of Thailand’s gift for massage and personal care, but Dhara Dhevi’s spa is unlike another experience you’ll encounter.

For dinner, reserve a table at the Grand Lanna for a taste of northern and central Thai cuisine and a traditional performance during your meal.

The Dhara Dhevi is perfect for:

  • Those who want an escape from the city

  • Visitors who appreciate history & architecture

  • Travelers looking for a first-class spa

The best time to visit the property would be during the dry season (November to April) to full experience all of the resort's beauty.  To learn more about the Dhara Dhevi, and to book your next stay, visit http://www.dharadhevi.co.th .
