While Antigua may be a haven for backpackers, there are several options for a relaxing stay that won’t have a hostel feel. During our time in Antigua, we stayed at the wonderful Hotel Casa Del Parque.

The 15 room, 4 Star property is situated in the heart of Antigua, just a few footsteps from the beautiful Parque Central and the San Jose Cathedral of Antigua. The centrally located hotel is also close to all of the important sites, restaurants and shopping.

The grounds of the property were serene and tranquil and offer a quiet escape from the cobblestone streets of Antigua. The rooms, all based in colonial architecture, face the calming garden in the middle of the property. The pool gives you view of Pacaya volcano and a great place to relax after hiking to Cerro De La Cruz or exploring La Recolecciòn. If you want to take the relaxation up a notch, there's also a sauna and massages available. The rooms were extremely comfortable and decorated in traditional Guatemalan and Mayan design. The staff was welcoming and incredibly helpful with anything we asked for, from help with booking excursions, transportation to the airport in Guatemala City, and any other accommodations we may have needed.

Worthy of noting, the free wifi offered by the hotel was probably the best wifi I’ve ever received in a hotel. We had no issues with speed or connectivity while we were there. This is a major plus for those who are working remotely or for those who have to update their Instagram pages with selfies from their visit to Lake Atitlan.

Overall, Casa Del Parque was a great experience. If you are looking for a four star property with a great price that offers a calm environment, you’ve found it. Rooms start at $58/night.
