Three Rooftop Spots in Antigua Worthy of Your Time

Once you arrive in Antigua, you’ll want to see every inch of its masterfully constructed churches, colonial homes, and cobblestone streets.  While trekking through the blocks of town to catch the sights is a given, the best way to admire the beauty of the city is through hanging out on some of its best rooftop bars and restaurants. Here are some rooftop spots we recommend for grabbing a drink and soaking up the city from a heightened perspective.

Café Sky

Don't let the building fool you! At the top of this hostel is a bar with one of Antigua's best views.

About a block away from Iglesias de San Francisco El Grande is where you’ll find Café Sky. Situated at the top of Hacia El Sur, a local hostel, the bar is a great spot to chill and share laughs after a day of exploring Antigua. Have a drink on this rooftop bar with an amazing panoramic view over the city and an unobstructed look at the surrounding volcanoes.  Get an order of the nachos and enjoy the breeze!

Perfect for: Sunset drinks, a relaxed vibe and a quick bite to eat!

Drink to order: Cojito

Frank & Fre does it all; it's a restaurant, bar, and hostel.

Not too far from Café Sky is Frank & Fre, another cool rooftop spot that’s worthy of a visit.  When you walk in, you may notice that the place serves several purposes; it’s a gastropub, terrace bar, and hostel.  Don’t be surprised to see people checking in for a room at the bar.  All things aside, Frank & Fre is a great little spot to lounge out on the terrace with a local beer and some tapas. They run great happy hour specials daily from 5-7 pm (such as beers for $1.50 and drinks for less than $3). Oh, and there’s free wifi!

Perfect for: A quick beer, quick bite, and a quick social media update!

Drink to order: The day’s happy hour special or one of their many Micheladas!

When you want a meal to go along with your rooftop drink, head to Los Tres Tiempos.  A short walk away from the famous Santa Catalina Arch, this restaurant serves traditional Guatemalan food in a contemporary styled venue. The appetizers were great, but we definitely recommend staying for a meal, as the entrees were fantastic and the rooftop area was perfect for an extended weekend lunch.

PRO TIP: On Sundays, you can catch live music from 1 - 4 p.m.

Perfect for: Drinks with a great meal
